There are thousands of recipes for bliss balls out there and the following is one of my favourite combinations, however, feel free to use whatever combination of nuts, seeds and dried fruit that you want.
Bliss balls sell in cafes for about $5.00, which is a little crazy considering how easily and cheaply you can make a whole batch yourself.
1 cup of dates (DATA500)
1 garland of Figs (FIGG)
½ cup of sunflower seeds (SUNFLOWER500)
1 and ½ cups of walnut pieces (WALNP500)
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence (ESSVANP500)
1 large pinch of salt (SALTCF)
½ cup of carob powder + extra for rolling (CARPWD)
Blitz all ingredients, except the carob powder in a high powered food processor until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Add the carob and blitz to combine.
The mix should now come together and be able to be rolled into balls. If the mixture is a bit wet add some more nuts, if it’s a little dry, add a splash of water.
Roll each ball in cocoa and place in the fridge to set. Can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to week.
